Assistant Professor
Biography
Joon Sue Lee is an assistant professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He works on experimental condensed matter physics, and the central theme of his research is development of quantum materials, prepared by “epitaxy”, and quantum devices for unveiling fundamental quantum phenomena as well as for exploring future device applications. His Ph.D. work (2014, Penn State) was on topological insulator systems for spintronic applications. His current research focuses on superconductor-semiconductor hybrid systems for topological quantum computing. Experimental schemes include molecular beam epitaxy; structural, electronical, and magnetic characterizations; fabrication of mesoscopic and nanoscale devices; electrical transport using cryostats.
